Frequently asked questions
Is the service free?
Yes, entirely free within the limit of 1 GB of storage per user, with no in-app purchases and no ads.
Which file types are accepted?
Office documents (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, RTF, TXT, CSV, Markdown), images (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, HEIC, BMP, TIFF) and audio (MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, AAC, FLAC). Videos, archives (ZIP, 7Z, TAR, GZ…), executables and scripts are rejected.
Is there an antivirus?
Yes. Each document is scanned by the ClamAV antivirus before it can be downloaded. An infected file is blocked, its content is deleted and its uploader is notified.
Where are my files stored?
With Scaleway, a French hosting provider, in its Paris data center, where they are encrypted. Your device uploads them directly to Scaleway through a secure link; our servers encrypt them as soon as they arrive, then decrypt them to send them to you when you open them, through short-lived links.
How much storage do I get?
1 GB per user, across all your YouTims and uploads: documents, gallery and chat photos, voice messages, announcement attachments and budget receipts. Your profile photo doesn't count.
What's the maximum file size?
Documents: 50 MB. Images: 25 MB. Audio: 50 MB. Up to 10 files per upload.
Who can add or delete documents?
By default, all members can add documents; the admin can keep this right for themselves. A document can be renamed or deleted by its uploader or by an admin.
How do I organize documents?
With pages, like tabs (“Invoices”, “Rules”…). Several documents can be selected to download or file them in one go.
Are my documents private?
Yes: only the YouTim's members have access to them, and the files are encrypted on our servers. Every download goes through a secure link, created on demand and valid for 5 minutes.
